Dear Community Partner,

Census 2020 launched just as the COVID crisis began to unfold. Like most other planned events and activities, our plans to get out into the community and help residents with filling out their Census are on hold. NOW MORE THAN EVER, Tuolumne County needs a complete and accurate count as it will set funding allocations for the next decade. Funds are used for our local schools, roads, jobs, housing, community programs and more.

Notices and questionnaires were mailed to most residents last month and soon another round will be mailed, but the US Census Bureau has suspended all field operations and it is unclear when and if they will resume in our area. That means we are relying on residents sheltering at home to take the Census on their own.

Please, let’s work together and encourage our residents to fill out their Census. It is safe, confidential and takes just minutes.

We are working to put Census related posters, banners and/or sandwich board style signage at essential service locations. If you manage one of those locations, please let me know if we can provide and place the signage. If you are willing to distribute Census related printed materials and/or products as your essential services site, please let me know and we will get the information over to you. If you have other ideas, I’m all ears.

If you are communicating to customers or clients via email, text, chat, social media, on your website or through a newsletter or other digital platforms, please remind folks about the importance of the Census. If you would like me to provide you with graphics, copy or ANYTHING of that nature, please reach out.

We hope to have locations and mobile information stations open at some point, but now we all need to work together. lease let residents know that they can visit us here at call our Tuolumne County Census Helpline at 209-268-6962 to learn more.

To get counted, residents can call the US Census Bureau at 844-330-2020, in Spanish at 844-468-2020 or submit their questionnaire online at At this time we are learning that the call center can be difficult to reach due to limited staffing. The best and easiest is to submit online. To get counted, residents do not need to have a notice or a code. They can submit using their address or nearest cross street

Stay safe and well and thank you for your amazing work,

Kristy Moore, ATCAA on behalf of Tuolumne County Census 2020 | Cell/Text: 209-283-4130
